Street Photography

This Photograph was taken in Pondicherry(2013), its very rare to see these cars on road now a days, though its not counted as that very antique, this was the car everyone wanted to own in 1970's,
Premier Padmini is an automobile that was manufactured in India from 1964 to 2000 by Premier Automobiles Limited, a division of the Walchand Group, under license from Fiat and marketed initially as the Fiat 1100 Delight - and beginning in 1973 as the Premier Padmini. The Padmini's primary competitor in the Indian market was the Hindustan Ambassador and Standard Herald.

Known colloquially as the Pad, the Padmini is named for a 14th-century Rajput princess. Padmini translates to "she who sits on the lotus" and refers to the Goddess Lakshmi. It is also a common name for girls in India.

The Fiat 1100D, based on the Fiat 1200 GranLuce Berlina, debuted in India in 1964 with a carburetted 1,089 cc four-cylinder engine — rather than the 1,221 cc engine fitted to the GranLuce in Italy. With a 7.8:1 compression ratio, it created 40 bhp (30 kW) at 4,800 rpm with a maximum torque of 7.20 kg·m (71 N·m; 52 lb·ft) at 3,000 rpm. The original transmission was a four-speed manual gearbox (without synchronized first gear), which drove the rear wheels via a live rear axle. It had a column-mounted shifter, on the left-hand side of the steering column. Weighing 895 kg (1,973 lb) with that engine the car could attain a top speed of 125 km/h (78 mph). (Info Ref Wikipedia)

Butterfly Life Story

Found these beautiful looking caterpillars in the Garden, These were in their Larvae stage, Butterflies are one of the beautiful Creations of nature, Lets know them.
Butterflies go through a life cycle. There are four stages. The first stage is the eggs. This is where a butterfly lays eggs. She lays them on a leaf. The second stage is the caterpillar. This is where the eggs hatch. It takes about five days for the eggs to hatch. A caterpillar then comes out. At this stage, the caterpillar eats all the time. It also grows really fast. Once it is all the way grown, the third stage starts. This stage is the chrysalis. The caterpillar makes a chrysalis. The caterpillar is inside the chrysalis. Inside the chrysalis, it starts to change. It soon changes into a butterfly. Once the caterpillar has changed into a butterfly, the fourth stage starts. This is also that last stage in the life cycle.  The fourth stage is the butterfly. A butterfly comes out of the chrysalis. It can now learn to fly. It can also find a mate. When it finds a mate, it lays eggs. Then the lifecycle process starts all over again.

Stage 1; Eggs
In the first stage a girl butterfly lays eggs. A butterfly first starts out as an egg. A girl butterfly lays the eggs on a leaf. She lays the eggs really close together. The eggs are really small and round. About five days after the eggs are laid. A tiny worm-like creature will hatch from the egg.

Stage 2: Caterpillar (Larve)
The second stage is the caterpillar. A caterpillar is sometimes called larve. A caterpillar is a long creature. It looks like a worm. Most caterpillars have a cool pattern. This pattern has stripes or patches. The caterpillar is hungry once it has hatched. It starts to eat leaves and flowers. It eats these all the time. It first eats the leaf that it was born on. This is the eating and growing stage.

A caterpillar grows really fast. This is because they eat a lot. A caterpillar is really small when it is born. It starts to grow fast. This is because it eats all the time. It grows so fast that it becomes too big for its skin. So the caterpillar has to shed its old skin. It then gets new skin. Caterpillars shed their skin four or more times while they are growing. A caterpillar shedding its outgrown skin is called molting.

Caterpillars do not stay in this stage very long. While they are in this stage, all they do is eat.

Stage 3: Chrysalis (Pupa)

This is the resting stage. It also is the changing stage. The caterpillar starts to changes. It starts to turn into a butterfly. It starts to look different. Its shape starts to change. It changes quickly. It then turns into a butterfly. All this happens in the chrysalis. This does not take a long time.

Stage 4: Butterly (Adult) (Imago)
In stage four, the chrysalis opens. Soon a butterfly comes out. A butterfly is sometimes called an imago. It is also called an adult. Butterflies are very colorful. When the butterfly first comes out its wings are damp. The wings are also soft. The wings are folded against its body. The butterfly is also very tired. So the butterfly rests.
Once the butterfly has rested, it will be ready to start flying. It will start to pump blood into its wings. This is to get them working and flapping. After it does this, it can now learn to fly. Butterflies cannot fly good at first. They need a lot of practice. It does not take long for them to learn. They learn fast. When it can fly, it will go look for food. The butterfly will also go look for a mate. It will soon find a mate. It will then lay eggs. The lifecycle will start all over again.

Birdie Bulbul

This guy was getting ready to attack me, As i had peeped into his nest. This Papa birdie was guarding eggs in its nest while its partner goes for a break. Its the Bulbul, The word bulbul derives from persian meaning nightingale dull-colored passerine birds with short necks and wings, native to Africa and  Asia. They inhabit grasslands and shrubby countrysides. Bulbuls are highlyvocal, with the calls of most species being described as nasal or gravelly, Bulbuls eat a wide range of different foods, ranging from fruit to seeds, nectar, small insects and other arthropods and even small vertebrates. The majority of species are frugivorous and supplement their diet with some insects.

Hornet

Saw this busy creature staring at me from his nest, although I did not have any intention to disturb him, but wanted few good shots.

Hornets, These wasps of the genusVespa, closely related to yellowjackets. These social insects construct hives by chewing wood into a papery construction pulp. They mature from egg to adult inside the community hive. Queens dominate hornet hives and are the only females to reproduce. Most other hornets are asexual female workers that perform essential community duties such as building the hive, gathering food, feeding the young, and protecting the colony. Males are few and they have only one real role—mating with the queen(that sounds good). Males typically die soon after their sexual task is complete, Ahh…Poor soul. These insects eat some tree sap but they are also accomplished predators. A hornet hive will eliminate many flies, bees, and other insects. Workers defend their hive with potent stingers. Though these insects do not sting humans unless provoked, some people are allergic to their venom and can have very dangerous reactions to a sting. So let’s stay in a safe distance not disturbing the hornet, while taking photos of it.

That's how i met milli

Once i got lost in a jungle and i stopped by to ask milli the route to reach Hotel Transylvania, She just smiled and curled on, She was so shy... ;)

Millipede comes from two Latin words - mil, meaning thousand and ped meaning feet. People referred  these creature as thousand leggers. But both names are misnomers, Most millipedes actually have less than 100 legs. The record holder for most legs has a mere 750. Some millipedes as a self defense tool use stink glands from which they emit a foul-smelling compound to repel predators. Mommy millipede burrows into the soil and digs a nest where she'll lay her eggs.

Spiky Spider

Evolution of spiders has been at least 400 million Years, Today, there are 42,473 described spider species within the diverse phylum of anthropods. When we hear about spiders the first thing that pops in our mind in the web, Although there are few spiders that never spin web. some spiders make decoys of themselves out of their webs. Some of these decoys are the same size as the spider, and some are considerably larger—presumably to look scarier than the spider itself. Scientists have even observed one spider shaking its web, trying to make its decoy appear to move on its own. Amazingly, these decoys actually work, and spiders that use them attract fewer predators. Above picture was taken in coorg in a coffee estate not sure about the specie, i name it Spiky Spider.

Coffee Land

Its been said in 1670, an pilgrim smuggled 7 coffee seeds out of Mecca and planted them in the Chikmagalur, Karnataka, later spread across nearby region i.e COORG, Now called the land of Coffee thus introducing coffee to India. Today, Karnataka yields more than 140,000 tonnes of coffee a year, making it the largest producer of coffee in India. December the best season to visit coorg, great weather and its coffee harvesting season. Coffee estate staffs with a huge baggage of coffee in their back busy picking coffee seeds. And end of the the day sipping strong coffee in its own land.
